Musical Projects

Over the past few months I have worked with software packages that are new to me – such as Cubase. I have also had the time to get back to my music in ways I had never done before.

The menu here will let you view some results of various exploits into writing songs – eventually I came across Guy Michelmore (on his Youtube channel) I enjoyed his informed and light-hearted approach to music and decided to purchase his course on ‘How to Write Music’ from Thinkspace education.

Having spent most of my life playing the piano / keyboard / organ, and with some time on my hands during lock-down, I fancied a go at writing some music. I always had trouble getting something down and I really found Guy’s course useful for reminding about structure. Then came the part where I had to have a go myself!

As I produce pieces / songs I will put a few on here – I am not expecting to be the next Sibelius!

I am using Sibelius to ‘compose’ or at least put chords / melody into a suitable form. I then use Cubase to occasionally tidy up the sound.

I know Guy is a great fan of the Spitfire BBC Symphony Orchestra VST – free if you wait for 2 weeks or so (but worth the wait).
